Teens Want to Sometimes Thinking Suicide Because of Acne

Oslo, Being a teenager is experiencing moments of mental crisis, which is very unstable. Appearance is one factor that affects the rise and fall of self-confidence of a teenager. So it's no wonder that many teenagers who are thinking of suicide because of severe acne.
When adolescents are drastic changes in hormones that make turmoil inside him. Hormonal changes that have not been this stable easy to make adolescent mental crisis as it continues to struggle for their identity.
These hormonal changes one of which makes almost all teenagers have acne. From a survey showed one in five adolescents experience severe acne problems.
Severe acne that make teenagers feel inferior and psychologically by the skin specialist Jerry Tan MD from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, can destroy the trust of her that is trying to build.
"There is a hidden impact how adolescents have acne severe thoughts of suicide," said Dr Tan as reported by the Health, Sunday (09/19/2010).
From the results of a study of 4000 adolescents, there are as many as 14 percent of teens who reported had severe acne and very much. Nearly 25 percent of adolescents who were admitted to having severe acne suicidal thoughts.
Research before making allegations of acne medications containing isotretinoin has been linked as a trigger of depression, suicide, or suicidal thoughts. But it's mind adolescent self binuh not because the effects of isotretinoin.
"A lot of controversy about it, but what makes teens think suicide is due to a severe acne problem has made him into a depression," said Jon A. Halvorsen, MD, of the University of Oslo, Norway.
Didana research by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health has been published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
